抽象化，是艺术家提取并再现物体主要元素和特征的过程，而不是具体形状的简单重现。在这一点上，抽象化与平面设计相似——标志、书籍封面、海报、视觉形象等等，我们从核心内容中提取出具有代表性的形式语言，并在此基础上将其视觉化。抽象化还有诗意的一面，它不仅可以应用于视觉形式，还可以应用于流程、构图等内容的处理方式。Sergei Eisenstein也用其诗意的概念创造了蒙太奇手法。抽象和诗歌可以引发观者思考及更深层次的解读，从而使作品更具洞察力。我们将在工作坊中，从多个角度探索平面设计的抽象特征。

Abstraction is similar to graphic design in that it is a process in which the artist extracts and reproduces the main elements and characteristics of the object, rather than simply reproducing the specific shape of the object. For example, let's think of logos, book covers, posters, icons, etc. We extract representative formative language that can reveal the core of the target content, and visualize it based on this. In addition, because abstraction has a poetic aspect, it is not only a concept that can be applied to visible forms, but can also be applied to how the content is handled, such as the flow and composition. Sergei Eisenstein also created a montage of collision technique using poetic concepts. Abstraction and poetry allow for a more insightful approach in that they broaden the interpretation of the work and make the viewer think. This workshop will be intended to be a time to explore various perspectives surrounding the abstract properties of graphic design.

Hezin O (Korea)

Hezin O是一位平面设计师，现居首尔。她从2010年开始接受设计委托，通过展览和出版物开展实践和创作。2023年，她受邀参加韩国久负盛名的青年艺术家展“Young Korean Artist”，该展览于韩国国立现代美术馆举办，已有40年历史。同年，Hezin O荣获韩国最佳书籍设计奖，并加入国际平面设计联盟（AGI）。她还被“It's Nice That's Once to Watch 2020”、“Monthly Design 2021”评选为年度杰出设计师。此外，她还曾受邀参加美国奥蒂斯艺术设计学院驻校设计师项目（2018），及荷兰RISO印刷实验工作坊“magical riso”（2016）。

Hezin O is a graphic designer based in Seoul. Since 2010, she has been carrying out several commissioned projects and simultaneously practicing active work through exhibitions and publications. In 2023, she participated in Korea's most prestigious new artist exhibition, Young Korean Artist (MMCA Gwacheon, 2023, KR), and won Best Book Design from the Republic of Korea in the same year. Starting in 2023, she joined AGI as a new member, and she was selected by It's Nice That's Once to Watch 2020, Monthly Design's 2021 Notable Designer of the Year. Also, she was invited to the Designer in Residence OTIS College of Art and Design (2018, US) program, as well as an experimental workshop magical riso (Van Eyck, 2016, NL) utilizing the riso stencil printing technique.
